Eastside Community Center Feasibility Study and Public Open House

A public open house is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Portland Avenue Community Center (3513 Portland Ave., in Tacoma).

In response to concerns of Tacoma’s Eastside Neighborhood, which has strongly advocated for healthy, safe activities for local youth, the City of Tacoma has partnered with Metro Parks, the Tacoma Housing Authority and the Tacoma School District to conduct a feasibility study for a new Eastside community center.

The study will address service gaps and community needs in the areas of health and recreation activities, social gathering spaces, and educational and cultural opportunities. It is planned for completion in early 2014.
