Former City Spokesman Rob McNair-Huff Partners with Tacoma's Seasonal View

There’s something rather meta about the following press release …

Seasonal View Launches New Community Engagement Suite for Municipal Governments and Non-Profits

TACOMA, WA – Pragmatic social media may sound like an oxymoron but Seasonal View’s new community engagement service—designed for budget-strapped municipalities and nonprofits—blends the art of online interaction with the sensibility of strategic communication planning to connect organizations with their target audiences.

Seasonal View launches this service alongside a new partnership with Rob McNair-Huff, a master of community rapport building who formerly led communications for the City of Tacoma.

“Consistency and authenticity are at the crux of successful communications but when you’re dealing with cost pressures and social media technologies that evolve at light speed, executing on this can be extraordinarily challenging” says McNair-Huff. “I was immediately drawn to Seasonal View’s new methodology, which simplifies and accelerates community engagement—at an attractive price.”

The team at Seasonal View brings a diverse range of experiences to the mix, ranging from hyper-local media to global marketing program management and a writing crew equipped with a decidedly neurotic focus on voice and message clarity.

“We’re excited to bring an established model back to our community,” said Derek Young, President of Seasonal View. “Everyone is trying to be heard. Everyone wants to deliver good customer service. But organizational needs, missions, and visions vary; what we offer taps into these intricacies to realize communication imperatives—without the investment in another employee.”

Does this mean Rob will continue to draw a paycheck from the local taxpayers?

@Fredo – if by local, you mean Tacoma – then the short and long answer is no. City of Tacoma ethics rules preclude Rob from doing any contract work with them for one year.

This seems interesting, but I don’t know that it will affect me in any way. Rob McNair-Huff seemed like a steady spokesperson and he probably will be really good at that “budget-strapped municipality” thing! (ha!)

All said, it sounds like another brain-type company in Tacoma, which is a good thing, because the more action that is centered in Tacoma, the more action will be drawn to Tacoma is how I see it.

Maybe I’m a bit Polyanna-ish on this, but you can call me the Yang portion of the comments on this topic.

An awesome team. Whichever organizations are able to take advantage of this cutting-edge service will be lucky ducks. Smart ones, too.
