I-5 construction closures in Tacoma/Fife

I-5 Lane Closures

• All lanes of mainline northbound I-5 near 38th Street in Tacoma will close from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 11. Drivers will be routed onto the parallel northbound I-5 collector/distributor lanes and detoured via either State Route 7 or I- 705. 

• Northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane near Puyallup River Bridge. Lane closures begin at 11 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

Tuesday and Wednesday Dec. 8-9 

• Southbound I-705 on-ramps to northbound I-5 and southbound SR 7 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. each following morning. 

Friday, Dec. 11 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to northbound I-705 will close from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14. 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to southbound SR 7 will close: 

o 6 p.m. Friday Dec. 11 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 

o 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 

Friday, Dec. 11 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to northbound I-705 will close from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14. 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to southbound SR 7 will close: 

o 6 p.m. Friday Dec. 11 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 

o 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13

Monday, Dec. 7
• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Tuesday, Dec. 8 

• East 28th Street/Bay Street on-ramp to northbound State Route 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

• Southbound I-5 exit to East 27th Street/Bay Street will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Wednesday, Dec. 9 

• Southbound SR 167 on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Saturday, Dec. 12
• 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m., East 27th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close. 

• 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., southbound SR 167 on-ramp to northbound I-5 and East 27th/Bay Street will close.
