I-5 construction closures in Tacoma/Fife

I-5 Lane Closures

  • Northbound I-5 will be reduced to a single lane near Puyallup River Bridge. Lane closures begin at 11 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Northbound I-5 between L Street and the Puyallup River Bridge will be reduced to a single lane during the overnight hours of Monday, Dec. 14 and Tuesday, Dec. 15. Single, double and triple lane closures will begin at 9 p.m., 11 p.m. and 12: 01 a.m. respectively. Two lanes will reopen by 4 a.m., with all lanes opening by 5 a.m. each following morning.
  • Southbound I-5 will also be reduced to a single lane between the Puyallup River Bridge and L Street during the overnight hours of Friday, Dec. 18. Single, double and triple lane closures will begin at 10 p.m., 12:01 a.m. and 1 a.m. respectively. Two lanes of southbound I-5 will be open by 5 a.m., with all lanes open by 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. 

Drivers should anticipate additional overnight single- and double-lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-5 between L Street and the Port of Tacoma Road throughout the week. 

Ramp closures

Saturday, Dec. 12

12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m., East 27th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close.
1 a.m. to 7 a.m., southbound SR 167 on-ramp to northbound I-5 and East 27th/Bay Street will close.

Monday, Dec. 14
• Northbound I-5 off-ramp to Portland Avenue will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15. 

Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 14-16 

• Southbound I-705 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each following morning. 

Tuesday, Dec. 15 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16. 

• Northbound I-5 off-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16. 

Wednesday, Dec. 16 

• Port of Tacoma Road on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17. 

Thursday, Dec. 17 

• Southbound I-705 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. 

Friday, Dec. 18 

• Southbound SR 167 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19. 

• Southbound I-5 off-ramp to East 27th and Bay Street will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19. 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to northbound I-705 will close from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21. 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to southbound State Route 7 will close: 

o 6 p.m. Friday Dec. 18 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 

o 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20
