I-5/SR16 Eastbound SR 16 Nalley Valley

Weather permitting, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close eastbound State Route 16 and area ramps two nights. The closures will allow crews to restripe a two-lane segment of the roadway to create a continuous third lane on eastbound SR 16 approaching Nalley Valley, and to do other miscellaneous construction work.
Eastbound SR 16 closure schedule for restriping:
11 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 2-3
Crews will close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue, the South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16, and both newly-constructed South Sprague Avenue on-ramps to eastbound SR 16/Interstate 5. The roadway and ramps will reopen at 4 a.m. each following morning. If work progresses as scheduled, the third eastbound SR 16 lane will be open to traffic at 4 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.
Additional closures for form-removal work and other miscellaneous activities:
• At 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Sept. 2-4, South Sprague Avenue will close between South 35th Street and South Tacoma Way. Drivers will follow a signed detour. The roadway will reopen each following morning at 4:30 a.m.
• At 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, crews will close the right shoulder of eastbound SR 16 from South Sprague Avenue on-ramp to I-5. An hour later at 10 p.m., crews will close one lane of westbound SR 16 for removal of temporary barrier. The lane and roadway shoulder will reopen at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5.
