Museum of Glass Announces Gail Weyerhaeuser as New President of Board of Trustees

Tacoma, Wash. — On July 1, 2013 Dr. Gail Weyerhaeuser began her leadership role at Museum of Glass as the new president of the Board of Trustees. A local clinical psychologist, Dr. Weyerhaeuser brings broad experience in business, professional work, and service with other nonprofit organizations to Museum of Glass.

“The Museum of Glass is a wonderful asset to Tacoma. I look forward to this new challenge, to working with the Board on the strategic decisions ahead and to the opportunity it brings for expanding my understanding of the art of glass and glass making. Stepping into this role is a way to acknowledge and honor the work of my cousin George Weyerhaeuser, Jr. at the Museum,” said Dr. Weyerhaeuser.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Weyerhaeuser at the helm of the Museum’s Board,” declared Susan Warner, Executive Director of Museum of Glass. “As we embrace the next decade of growth and change at the Museum her expertise in board leadership will be vital.”

Dr. Weyerhaeuser received her Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California and her undergraduate degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She has served on the boards of both of these institutions as well as Charles Wright Academy, which she chaired. Other board work includes Northwest Trek Foundation, The Washington State Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation and Tacoma Actors Guild.

Dr. Weyerhaeuser and her husband, Bill Weyerhaeuser, are long-time supporters of the arts in Tacoma and the Puget Sound region. In her free time, Dr. Weyerhaeuser enjoys hiking, skiing, fishing, reading, and spending time with immediate and extended family.
