Museum of Glass Goes Rockabilly for Fifth Annual Slider Cook-Off

Tacoma, Wash. — Sizzling sliders and fiery glassblowing by John Miller return to Slider Cook-Off, however this year there’s a rockabilly twist. On Saturday, March 26, Museum of Glass will kick off its fifth annual cook-off, complete with a pinup hair-do station, rock and roll (temporary) tattoo art, and a fired-up performance by The Dusty 45s.
Voted “Best of Seattle” three years in a row by Seattle Weekly, The Dusty 45s will keep guests on their feet with high-energy, rockin’ music. Front man Billy Joe Huels will light up the evening with fire igniting from his trumpet, making this year’s Slider Cook-Off the hottest one yet. Guests can enjoy more fiery action throughout the night with artist John Miller, who will create another giant glass burger in the Museum’s Hot Shop.
This year’s participating restaurants include Doyle’s Public House, The Fish Peddler, The Pine Room, The Red Hot, The Social Bar and Grill, and Stacks Burgers. Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite slider after sampling burgers from each restaurant, five of which are first-time Slider Cook-Off participants. This year’s celebrity judges, who will score each slider, are Northwest Travel & Life Editorin-Chief Allen Cox, The Dockyard Derby Dames’ cocaptain Booty Trapp, and Chef Kirsten Helle, who has been featured on Food Network, FOX, NBC, and Woman’s Day magazine.
Beer will be provided by Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. and Gig Harbor Brewing Company. To end the evening, Metropolitan Market will satisfy each guest’s sweet tooth with “The Cookie.”
