Night paving on SR 509 in Tacoma continues

TACOMA – Crews are making progress in their efforts to repave a portion of State Route 509 and make ADA improvements to sidewalk ramps in Tacoma, however daytime and night closures remain necessary to get the job done. 

Motorists can expect to encounter single-lane closures on SR 509 between Alexander Avenue East and Norpoint Way during the following timeframes. Although WSDOT tries to minimize impacts to traffic during construction activities, the closures have caused delays and frustration for drivers and they are advised to avoid the area if possible. 

• 9 p.m. Friday, July 18 to 9 a.m. Saturday, July 19 
• 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 21 
• 7 p.m. Monday, July 21 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 
• 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 
• 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 24 
• 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24 to 5 a.m. Friday, July 25 

Several days of daytime lane closures are expected over the next few weeks to complete the sidewalk and electrical work. The daytime lane closures will be announced as they are scheduled.
