Old Town Dock New Restroom Construction Begins March 17

Tacoma waterfront improvements continue. Construction on a new public restroom at Old Town Dock will begin March 17 and complete this summer. The work will include two new public restrooms, sidewalk improvements, crosswalks across Ruston Way, irrigation, a rain garden, native plant landscaping and public art.
Traffic impacts during construction will include periodically closing the turning lane from westbound Ruston Way onto McCarver Street. During these times westbound access to Old Town from Schuster Parkway will be via North 30th Street. Through traffic on Ruston Way will remain open at all times.
Pedestrian access during construction will be maintained with minor rerouting.
The City of Tacoma and Metro Parks Tacoma completed the $2.3 million dock renovation portion of the project last spring after the dock was forced closed due to safety concerns.
