Overnight closures of southbound I-5 in Tacoma scheduled

Overnight closures of southbound Interstate 5 are scheduled for multiple nights beginning Tuesday, May 12 while contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation continue demolition of the Pacific Avenue overpass in Tacoma.
Southbound lane closure specifics:
All lanes of southbound I-5 will detour via Interstate 705 between the overnight hours of 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 15 and 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, May 16.
Drivers can also expect overnight single and double lane closures of both northbound and southbound I-5 through Tacoma and Fife.
In addition to the above closures, several overnight ramp closures are scheduled in Fife and Tacoma May 9 through 16. The most notable closure is the southbound State Route 167 on-ramp to southbound I-5. The ramp will close at 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. each following day beginning Monday, May 11 through Thursday May 14.
Additional ramp closures:
- The East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 9:00 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 14.
- The northbound I-5 exit to northbound State Route 167 will close at:
- 10 p.m. on Monday, May 10 until 4 a.m. the following day.
- 11 p.m. on Friday, May 15 to; 7 a.m. the following day.
- The northbound I-5 exit to Portland Avenue will close at
- 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Monday, May 11
- 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.
- The northbound I-5 exit to 20th Street East will close overnight at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 until 4 a.m. the following day.
