Public Charter Schools and Families to Hold Rallies to Keep Schools Open

September 10, 2015Families are joining public charter school students, educators, and community leaders to stand up for kids and keep Washington’s public charter schools open in rallies across the state Thursday and Friday.

After the State Supreme Court rejected the public charter school law approved by voters, the fate of 1,200 students and their families have been in question. Parents from the nine public charter schools organized these rallies to call on Gov. Jay Inslee to immediately call a special session to address the law and ensure parents continue to have high-quality public school options for their children.

Elected officials, parents, school leaders, and public charter school supporters will be speaking at each event. Remarks are expected to last 30 minutes.
