Recycle your holiday lights!

Give the environment a holiday gift; recycle your lights.

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is teaming up with Girl Scouts of Western Washington again this year on a holiday lights recycling program. Working together, we hope to keep thousands of strings of lights out of landfills. Collection continues through mid-January.

All proceeds from the 2013 Holiday Lights Recycling Program will fund shark conservation efforts.

So if you have lights you don’t need or want anymore, we have an environmentally friendly way for you to dispose of them.

Tips for Recycling Lights:

  • Remove all packaging, twist-ties and rubber bands.
  • Place lights directly in the bin -- with no bags or other extra material.
