September is Half-Off General Admission Month for Senior Citizens at NW Trek

Seniors aged 65 and older receive special half-price general admission at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park throughout the month of September. They also receive 10 percent discounts in the Forest Cafe, gift shop and on the Zip Wild zip line/challenge courses.

It’s a great time for seniors to get out and enjoy the scenery, the smaller crowds and the relaxed pace of the season.

And Northwest Trek is always a special place for grandparents who want to pack up the grandkids and share the wonders of nature with them.

Kids particularly enjoy up-close animal sightings at Trailside Encounters and hands-on activities in the Cheney Family Discovery Center.

Admission also includes a 50-minute, naturalist-narrated ride aboard a tram as it winds its way through Northwest Trek’s 435-acre Free-Roaming Area, where animals exhibit herding behaviors that only occur during the fall season.

And with the changing season, it’s a lovely time of year for leisurely strolls along paved pathways, which wind past exhibits of black bears and grizzly bears, gray wolves, cougars, bobcats, Canada lynx, river otters, beavers and dozens of other animals.

Longer walks are available on paved nature trails. And there are benches scattered around for just sitting a spell amid the grandeur of the great outdoors.

Northwest Trek hours beginning Sept. 2 are: Monday-Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm; Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 am to 5 pm.

The Zip Wild zip line/challenge courses are open from 10 am to 4 pm Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 2-Sept. 28. Reservations are required and may be made at www.nwtrek.org/zipwild/.
