Series of lane and ramp closures scheduled in Tacoma

Work linked to the Interstate 5 – M Street to Portland Avenue – HOV project in Tacoma will require a string of nighttime lane and ramp closures. 

During each weeknight, Monday through Friday, Nov. 10-14, nighttime drivers could find overnight single and double-lane closures on both directions I-5 in Tacoma from M Street to Portland Avenue. All lane closures will begin after 8 p.m., and all lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each following morning. 

• In addition to single and double lane closures, southbound I-5 near the City Center exit will be reduced to one lane of traffic at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. 

The following ramp closures are also scheduled. During the ramp closures, drivers will follow signed detours. 

Monday, Nov. 10 
• Close the City Center/southbound Interstate 705/State Route 7 on-ramp to southbound I-5 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

Tuesday, Nov. 11 
• Close northbound I-5 collector/distributor on-ramp to I-705/SR 7 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day. 

Wednesday, Nov. 12 
• Close northbound I-5 collector/distributor on-ramp to I-705/SR 7 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day. 
• Close southbound I-5 exit (Exit #135) to Bay Street/State Route 167 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

Thursday, Nov. 13 
• Close SR 167 (River Road) on-ramp to southbound I-5 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday. 
• Close southbound I-5 exit (Exit #135) to Bay Street/SR 167 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

Friday, Nov. 14 
• Close northbound I-5 collector/distributor on-ramp to I-705/SR 7 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
