Series of night closures planned as crews near finish line on eastbound SR 16 project

As crews are making the final push on the Interstate 5/State Route 16 Eastbound Nalley Valley project, nighttime drivers should plan ahead for a series of total night closures of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue. Other closures affecting I-5 access will also take place. 

The closures will allow crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation to conduct additional roadway paving and striping. 

Monday, July 21 
11 p.m. 

• Close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue. Detour via South Union Avenue. 
• Close South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 

Tuesday, July 22 
4 a.m. 

• Reopen all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue and South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 

11 p.m. 
• Close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue. Detour via South Union Avenue. 
• Close South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 

Wednesday, July 23 
4 a.m. 

• Reopen eastbound SR 16 and South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 

11 p.m. 
• Close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue. Detour via South Union Avenue. 
• Close South 38th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 and City Center. 

Thursday, July 24 
4 a.m. 

• Reopen eastbound SR 16 and South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 
• Reopen South 38th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 and City Center. 

11 p.m. 
• Close all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue. Detour via South Union Avenue. 
• Closing northbound I-5 exit to City Center (#133). 

Friday, July 25 
4 a.m. 

• Reopen all lanes of eastbound SR 16 at South Union Avenue and South Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound SR 16. 
• Reopen northbound I-5 exit to City Center (#133).
