SR 167 Puyallup River Bridge Replacement Project

Beginning Monday, June 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, drivers who use 4th Street and Levee Road under the Puyallup River Bridge should expect one-way alternating traffic with flaggers.
Crews will build supports for the temporary bridge that will be used as crews build a new span over the Puyallup River. Crews will construct a temporary alignment east of the steel truss bridge. Crews will move the bridge to the new route to allow construction of the new bridge.
The Design-Build team of Atkinson/Jacobs is finalizing the design of the new steel plate girder bridge superstructure to allow steel fabrication to begin soon.
Crews previously installed steel plates along the under side of the bridge’s steel truss to reinforce the structure so legal-weight trucks can continue to use the 89-year old bridge until a replacement bridge is complete in 2015.
Trucks weighing over 80,000 pounds (overweight loads requiring permits) remain prohibited from crossing the bridge. Trucks weighing up to 80,000 pounds are restricted to the right lane.
