Swimming Alert at Brown's Point Lighthouse Park

No Swimming or Wading at Brown's Point Lighthouse Park due to High Bacteria Levels
Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department recommends people do not swim or wade at Brown's Point Lighthouse Park. High levels of bacteria found in the water show an increased risk of gastrointestinal illness.
The Health Department has posted advisory signs at Brown's Point Lighthouse Park, and we will continue to monitor bacteria levels at this location. When bacteria levels no longer show increased risks to public health, we will remove the signs.
For more information, please contact Ray Hanowell at (253) 798-2845 (rhanowell@tpchd.org), or Lindsay Tuttle at (253) 798-3530 (ltuttle@tpchd.org).
Note to people fishing in the area:
The bacteria won’t accumulate in the fish meat so the fish are safe to eat as long as the fish are washed well. TPCHD will be sampling again on Monday and should have the results late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
