Tacoma Celebrates the ‘Year of the Monkey’

During the 2016 Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 13

The City of Tacoma has partnered with business owners and other community leaders in the Lincoln International Business District to host the 2016 Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (convening around Yakima Avenue and South 38th Street in Tacoma).

"It has been five years since we last celebrated the Lunar New Year in the Lincoln International Business District," said Council Member Marty Campbell. "This is just one of the many things we have in the works to help create a better sense of place in this unique district, and I look forward to celebrating the rich diversity that makes our city so dynamic."

Event attendees will enjoy world-class global cuisine while taking in performances from lion dancers and other cultural groups. The celebration supports the City Council's broader goals to promote an economically thriving business district that is an inviting and accessible destination area for eating, shopping and gathering.
