Tacoma's turkey tradition SOLD OUT

20th anniversary run is at capacity

The Norpoint Turkey Trot, Tacoma’s Thanksgiving morning tradition, is at capacity. Due to city permitting there is a cap on the number of participants allowed. That limit has been reached and registration is now closed. There will be no day-of-race registration.

The race, which begins at the Center at Norpoint in northeast Tacoma, has been bringing families together on Thanksgiving morning since 1995 and for many it has become as much a part of the holiday tradition as pumpkin pie and football. The event is stuffed with holiday activities and includes both a 5k and 2-mile run/walk along with a kids dash. The 5k distance is chip-timed.

Those wishing to experience the fun that morning are invited to volunteer. Contact the race’s volunteer coordinator at (253) 404-3903 orlisac@tacomaparks.com.

Jingle Bell Run

The next race in the Run the Parks series is the Jingle Bell Run at Wright Park on December 24. This holiday event is a family favorite and a great way to take a break from the hustle and bustle while spending active time outdoors.

Jingle Bell Run is a popular event that traditionally sells out. This year, to accommodate more participants, the event has two start times. The first wave begins at 10:30 am, the second begins at 12 pm. Participants can sign up for the time they find most convenient.

Registration is only $10 per person for the 3-mile, chip-timed event. Costumes are welcome. To learn more and sign up visit MetroParksTacoma.org/Jingle/.
