The Grand Cinema Announces September “Back to School Month” Discount

The Grand Cinema, Downtown Tacoma’s Art-House movie theater and film center, is thrilled to again announce that for the entire month of September admission to any film screening will be just $5 for K-12 and higher-ed students, teachers, and administrators!
“As a regular collaborator with local teachers, education non-profits, and area colleges and universities, The Grand continuously seeks to be an active partner in education and arts access,” says Executive Director Philip Cowan. “Additionally, we’re also just big cheerleaders of our community’s youth and educators and this discount is a way for us to say ‘thank you,’ ‘we’re behind you,’ and ‘best of luck’ as they head back to school,” continues Cowan.
A certified non-profit organization led by a volunteer board of directors, small staff and legion of volunteers - The Grand Cinema has long shown a commitment to exposing Pierce County students to independent film. Throughout the 2013-14 school year The Grand partnered on independent film screenings with over two dozen different local schools including University of Washington-Tacoma, Tacoma Community College, School of the Arts, Lincoln High School, and Annie Wright Schools.
To receive the discount, eligible patrons must bring a current school ID card to The Grand Cinema box office at the time of their ticket purchase. Regular priced tickets to films at The Grand are $9.50 for evenings and $7.50 for matinees with $2 off for students, seniors, and armed services members and $2.50 off for Grand Cinema members.
