The Grand Cinema Celebrates 18 Years in the Community

Event Sponsored by Corinna Bakery and Hello Cupcake

Tacoma, WA The Grand Cinema celebrates its ‘18th birthday’ on Thursday, April 16th with day-long festivities for community members to enjoy. Staff at The Grand want to thank the community and our volunteers for their support with this celebration of the cinema’s success eighteen years after the doors opened as a nonprofit in 1997.

Those who attend a movie at The Grand on April 16th will enjoy free photos in a birthday booth filled with fun props, free sweets (while supplies last) and steep discounts in concessions (small sodas for $2.50 and small popcorns for $1.50), as well as discounted membership to The Grand.

Our Birthday Membership Special offers two free months when patrons join as a member of The Grand for the first time or renew an existing membership (14 months for $45, the price of one year). Perks of becoming a member of The Grand include access to free, members-only parking; a $2.50 discount on admission to all films; a free small bag of popcorn for every visit; discounts on special events; and eligibility to vote and run for The Grand Cinema Board of Directors.

The Grand invites guests to collectively celebrate the theater’s history. “We are here for the community, and we appreciate the how much the community supports the theater, its unique films, events, and discussions in return,” said Darcy Nelson, Marketing Director. “Our birthday party is a simple way to thank folks for being part of The Grand and all that makes the cinema special.” More than just a theater, The Grand gathers people to think, discuss, and celebrate shared experiences, stories and events. Several of the new and ongoing events and film series happening in theater this spring include:
