The Grand Cinema Presents TFF 2015 Special Events

Tacoma, WA – Hosted by The Grand Cinema for its 10th year running, the Tacoma Film Festival celebrates nearly every genre of independent film from the Northwest and around the world. Special screenings and events will be held in numerous venues across Tacoma October 8-15.

TFF offers something for everyone: screenings of more than 100 diverse and eclectic films that cannot be seen elsewhere in Washington this fall, ; exclusive special appearances by  25 New Faces - Filmmaker Magazine’s who’s who of up and coming filmmakers; celebrity guest John Ratzenberger; and special events and discussions connecting festival-goes with celebrated filmmakers.

Opening Night| THURS 10/08/15 | 7:00 PM

Kick off TFF with the first movie of the festival, When I Live My Life Over Again, at The Grand Cinema. A post-film mixer will be hosted in The Grand’s lower lobby with food, beverages, and giveaways plus a chance to hear from some of this year’s visiting filmmakers. Opening Night also features a sneak peek of TFF films with movie trailers and more. Beer and wine will be available at a no-host bar. Tickets: $10 Movie, $15 Movie & Mixer (includes food & non-alcoholic drinks)

West Coast Premiere of Tumbledown | FRI 10/09/15 |7:00 PM

The West Coast Premiere of Tumbledown will be presented at the historic Blue Mouse Theatre and will include trivia and prize giveaways. Festival fun continues with an after party at Europa Bistro boasting old-world style food, drinks, and good company. Festival goers receive 20% off their entire bill when you present your TFF ticket stub. All TFF pass holders receive complimentary food and one alcoholic beverage. Space at Europa Bistro is limited and available on a first-come, first served basis. Tickets: $10 Movie (includes entry to the after party at Europa Bistro)

Toy Story with a Pixar Star | SAT 10/10/15 |10:00 AM (doors open at 9:30 AM)

This family friendly film event features actor and Pixar voice animator, John Ratzenberger presented The Blue Mouse Theatre at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10. Watch Pixar’s beloved classic, Toy Story (1995) with a film introduction by John Ratzenberger, a hosted Q & A, and free mini donuts and milk for all. Tickets: $15 adults & $10 children (ages 12 & under)

An Evening with John Ratzenberger |SAT 10/10/15| 5:00 PM

A night of food, drinks, giveaways, and entertainment featuring multi-Emmy nominated actor John Ratzenberger on Saturday, October 10 at Annie Wright School’s historic Great Hall. Ratzenberger (best known as Cliff Clavin from Cheers) will share a brief speech followed by a Q&A session and opportunities for photographs and autographs. Appetizers and dessert will be provided by Europa Bistro. Tickets: $40 General Admission, $35 for members of The Grand Cinema

Party with 25 New Faces | SAT 10/10/15 | 8:00 PM Film, 10:00 PM After Party

Enjoy a screening of Killing Them Safely, created by two of this year’s honorees of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film at The Grand Cinema at 8:00 PM. Following the screening, join the filmmakers at an after party a few blocks down the street at the new Zodiac Supper Club. Filmmakers, movie goers, and staff from The Grand will mingle at the Zodiac Supper Club, Tacoma’s newest grill-your-own food adventure featuring cocktails served by the punchbowl (no-host bar). Pass holders will receive one complimentary alcoholic drink. Tickets: $10 (includes entry to After Party)

25 New Faces Filmmaker Q & A | SUN 10/11/15 | 12:00 PM (FREE)

Meet all the attending filmmakers honored as this year’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine, the nation’s leading film periodical. This panel discussion hosted in The Grand Cinema’s lower lobby gives cinephiles, filmmakers, and aspiring filmmakers the opportunity to ask emerging filmmakers anything and everything about current projects, best practices, and industry trends. This event is free but space is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive early to reserve their seat. (Tickets not required)

 

Closing Night Dinner & A Movie | THURS 10/15/15 | 6:30 PM

Celebrate the final night of the festival with eats and treats at The Grand Cinema followed by a screening of the film Lamb.  Food will be available at 6:30 PM, and Lamb will screen at 7:30 PM. Tickets include hearty appetizers, dessert, non-alcoholic beverages, and one complimentary alcoholic beverage. There will also be a no-host bar offering beer and wine. Tickets: $25 General Admission, $20 Grand Cinema Members

A full festival schedule, including dates for “secret screenings” will be announced on September 17. On September 18, sales begin for all-access passes that include unlimited TFF movie nights, some special events, and a TFF swag bag ($150). Applications are now being accepted for press credentials for the 10th Annual Tacoma Film Festival. Applications and headshots must be received no later than Friday, September 25, 2015.
