Turkey Tradition Brings Families Together

20th anniversary run at a 20th anniversary price!
Kick off your Thanksgiving morning with family and friends at the 20th annual Norpoint Turkey Trot.
Runners and walkers from the Pacific Northwest and beyond will descend upon Northeast Tacoma for the largest Turkey Trot in the South Sound. The event is stuffed with holiday activities and includes both a 5k and 2-mile run/walk along with a kids dash. The 5k distance is chip-timed.
The race has been bringing families together on Thanksgiving morning since 1995 and for many it has become as much a part of the holiday tradition as pumpkin pie and football.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary the entry fee has been lowered to $20.
Race day festivities will feature memories in pictures, in writing, and on stage. Both the 5k and 2 mile routes begin at 9 am at the Center at Norpoint, 4818 Nassau Ave NE, and wind through the streets of Northeast Tacoma, providing mountain and Puget Sound views for participants.
The kids dash remains on the Center at Norpoint campus. Participants in the kids dash are invited to join Norpoint staff for crafts and games in the gym while parents run/walk in the 5k or 2-mile events.
Shoe certificates from South Sound Running will be awarded to one participant of the 2-mile race and one from the 5k. Winners are selected by a random drawing of bib numbers.
All participants are eligible for other random prizes given out during the post-race celebration and a costume contest will reward those wearing the best turkey costumes. Participants registered by November 22 receive a Turkey Trot t-shirt.
Registration is available through November 22 online at MetroParksTacoma.org/Trot and in person at Metro Parks community centers or South Sound Running stores in Downtown Tacoma and Puyallup.
The entry fee for both distances is $20 through November 10; $25 November 11-22 and $30 on the morning of the race. The event has limited capacity and will sell out at 1,400 participants. Day of race registration is not guaranteed and early entry is encouraged.
