VeloFemmes Celebrate One Year
Women of all ages and ability are invited to join VeloFemmes, Tacoma's grassroots women's cycling revolution for their anniversary party this Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 5 p.m. in Tollefson Plaza in downtown Tacoma. The festival-style event will feature booths with women-owned and bicycle-themed merchandise for sale, complimentary bike maintenance, bike art, VeloFemmes information and upcoming events, and giveaways.
Music by Barleywine Revue and an opportunity to have your photo taken with your bike by Delightfully Tacky are among the highlights this year. At 6:30 p.m., a easy, social-paced bike ride around downtown will end at the Harmon Tap Room for socializing and prizes.
VeloFemmes are "Tacoma Women. Riding Bikes. Having Fun." The group started in 2013 with a festival celebration and currently hosts themed bike-rides, regular weekly rides and conversation series events aimed at making cycling more accessible to women.
