Visiting Artist Micah Adams to Complete Residency at Museum of Glass

Tacoma, Wash. — Micah Adams will be working in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop as a Visiting Artist from Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15. His residency will conclude with a lecture in the Hot Shop on Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 pm. The lecture will also be streamed live on the Museum’s website. Adams is one of three artists selected out of 37 applicants to complete a 2013 residency through MOG’s Visiting Artist Residency Program.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, Adams began his formal art training at John Abbott College in Montreal, and later received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax.
Adams has also completed a three-year residency in Toronto at Harbourfront Centre’s Metal/Jewelry Studio, where he explored the combination of copper and glass with Museum of Glass Hot Shop Starter Niko Dimitrijevic in 2010. Adams describes his art as a “playful balance between: humor and formal issues; size and perception of scale; and longevity versus ephemerality; and how these relationships inform value of work.”
Adams hopes to continue testing the limits of combining copper with glass during his Visiting Artist residency at MOG.
