Walk Tacoma Scavenger Hunt this Wednesday

Don't miss out on the last Walk Tacoma event of the 2014 series, the Walk Tacoma Scavenger Hunt.  The Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by Union Bank, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6.   Register outside the Social Bar and Grill (1715 Dock St), and begin the hunt between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.  Use public transportation and your feet to get to destinations scattered across downtown Tacoma before meeting back at the Social Bar and Grill, the social sponsor, for food, drinks and prizes at 6:45. This event is free, and there is no pre-registration necessary.  All ages are welcome.

Complete the hunt as an individual or team. Riding both the Link and a Pierce Transit bus is required, and you must use only public transit, a bicycle, or your feet; no driving allowed. Bus passes and downtown maps will be provided.

Decipher clues that will lead to specific downtown destinations, many of which have been featured during our 2014 Walk Tacoma series, and some of which appear on the Walk Tacoma Maps (available free for download on our website and at the scavenger hunt). You will need to take a photo at each location, so a camera or camera phone is required. In addition, there will be trivia questions to answer and special activities to complete at some of the locations.

Prizes will be awarded to participants reaching certain point levels. The highest scoring individual and team will each win a grand prize.

Follow Downtown On the Go on Facebook and Twitter! We will have exclusive sneak peeks at some of the clues starting today.

We will have Walk Tacoma t-shirts at the Scavenger Hunt for all of the people who attended at least four out of the first seven Walk Tacoma events.  We will also have them for sale at the event for $10.

The Walk Tacoma Scavenger Hunt is part of Downtown On the Go’s 2014 Walk Tacoma series sponsored by Franciscan Health System.  It is an eight-event walking series held on the first and third Wednesdays, from April through August.  The fun, themed walks, now in their fifth year, encourage downtown employees and residents to exercise and enjoy the outdoors by discovering the different walking routes and parks in downtown Tacoma.  The walks are scheduled at the lunch hour and just after work to encourage downtown employees to walk during their workday, whether it is to and from work, at a lunch break, or to a nearby meeting.

Check out the photos from the first seven Walk Tacoma events on the DOTG Facebook page.  Join us this Wednesday; it will be so much fun!
