Wanted: Residents Interested in Creating Healthy, Safe Communities

as Part of Human Services Commission
The Tacoma City Council seeks to fill four positions on the Human Services Commission. Each position will serve a three-year term, and members must reflect Tacoma’s racial, cultural, gender, socioeconomic and geographic diversity. Youth between the ages of 16 and 18 are encouraged to apply.
The Human Services Commission is a 15-member group that tackles important social issues in our community by partnering with the City Council and the Neighborhood and Community Services Department. Commission members review and make recommendations on funding applications and initiatives. The Commission also works with the community to raise awareness, prevent and end domestic violence, sexual exploitation and homelessness, and build stronger communities by providing summer youth employment opportunities, youth building and resources for people who are experiencing mental illness and chemical dependency.
For additional information on the Human Services Commission, please visit their page on the City’s website or contact Jaime Jackson in Neighborhood and Community Services at (253) 591-5047.
Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by Friday, March 28, 2014. To apply, please visitcityoftacoma.org/cbcapplication or contact Linnea Meredith at (253) 591-5178 in the City Clerk’s Office (Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 11, Tacoma, WA 98402).
