Glass Patches Seed Passion for Local Art

Every year Tacoma Glass Blowing Studio makes pumpkins. They're pretty little seasonal works of art that will last longer than your jack o'lantern, and no one has to scoop out the guts.

Each year the artists display and sell their pumpkins at half a dozen locations around the Sound, wrapping up this year at the Pioneer Pavillion in Puyallup this Saturday with 6,000 pumpkins in an 8,000 square-foot space. If you miss them there, though, you can always pick up a pumpkin at the studio just off Pacific on 23rd, or order one online. Or you could schedule your own glass blowing session, and see what you can come up with yourself.

It seems like the perfect intersection of pumpkin month and Tacoma Arts Month.
