Infographic: A National-Level Look at FDI in the United States

Foreign Direct Investment seems to be popping up with increasing frequency in conversations about Tacoma's economic outlook - from the recently-formed Mayor's Commission on International Relations, to the new Tacoma-Seatle Seaport Alliance, to the EB-5 investors interested in develooping a new hotel next to the Convention Center.

In light of increased attention on the importance of international relations for Tacoma, it seems good to know what we're talking about - and where the opportunities and potential benefits lie. Benefits go beyond the jobs directly created when foreign investors come to town.

Subnationally, FDI builds pipelines between US clusters and theiry global counterparts, increasing the flow of economically productive knoledge and forging important trade and investment relationships in the process.

An infographic is a pretty easily digestible way to approach a topic, but it still provides a little food for thought on the possibilities for Tacoma...
