Reading: Cover Contest Finalist: Edward Lychik

23 year-old veteran and hip amputee Edward Lychik from Tacoma has been proving his doctors wrong for a couple years now. When he lost his leg at the hip in Afghanistan two years ago, they told them he would never run again.
Not only does he run, he’s run four marathons (PR of 4 hours 7 minutes), including the Boston Marathon last year. He’s gotten a lot of press, both local and national, and turned his adversity into a motivational speaking career. And now he’s one of 10 finalists, two of whom will appear on covers of Runner’s World magazine this December. Pretty impressive.
It would be fun to see a Tacoma resident on the covers of a major publication like Runner’s World. Good luck Ed.
