Report: Postal Service leaves areas in the dark on changes to 95 facilities

Tacoma's US Post Office mail processing center over by the Mall is one of 80 the USPS would like to close beginning early next year. Operations of the Tacoma location would be consolidated with the Seattle processing center

The closures will increase delivery times overall, and eliminate overnight delivery for most mail. That being said, USPS doesn't know exactly what those changes will look like for the communities affected by the consolidations, because they haven't yet completed impact studies.

A couple years ago Tacoma's station was listed for closure, and a letter writing campaign was organized. We hadn't heard an update in a while, but it looks like Tacoma is still on the chopping block.

Is it time to let the Tacoma ... close? Or is it worth fighting to keep it open?
