A Tollefson Zamboni?

Be it a jumping a Salchow, throwing a hip check or leaning into a fast inside line, your opportunity to strap on your Blades of Glory may be right around the corner. The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, Downtown Merchants Group and Tacoma Art Museum have partnered to establish a holiday ice rink at Tollefson Plaza for 2010. This January and February will be a feasibility period where sponsors will be solicited. Sponsors can help through either cash donations or gifts in kind. Sponsors will receive various forms of recognition at the event and in the ads but first, what they need is advertising.

If you’ve always wanted a sporting facility named after you, this may be your opportunity. Meanwhile, we’re contacting our Minnesotan relatives to see if they can find our old skates.

For more information, contact Cameron Fellows at 253-272-4258 ×3012 or cfellows@tacomaartmuseum.org and online at downtowntacoma.com

Are you as excited as we are?

Lots of rhetoric about SERVICE cuts.

Not a single word about SALARY cuts.

Evidently the #1 PRIORITY for the city of Tacoma is PREMIUM PAY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. It’s such a critical priority it can’t even be discussed. It’s just assumed that this arrangement will not be subject to review.

Clearly, the department heads and union bosses own the City Manager and the City Council. This is not going to turn out good. This discussion is going to end with the city entering a dark period of service level insolvency.
