City Council Meeting- Feb. 12, 2008

The big item of interest tonight was the renewal of the BIA. The Business Improvement Area (BIA) covers 84 blocks of the downtown core and is a self imposed tax by property owners within the area. However, the City Council has to approve its existence and budget. The ordinance read tonight would reestablish the area for another 10 years. A public hearing was held with many people speaking in favor of the BIA and the work it has done to clean up downtown. The ordinance will be voted on next week.

It was a quick, efficient meeting with mostly housekeeping agenda items. Thanks City Council! I get dinner tonight…
