City Council Meeting - Sept. 9, 2008
Tacoma’s City Council took last week off. Why jump right back into work? Tonight was pretty darn quiet. A bunch of Ayes, and we were done. Here are the details:
PROCLAMATIONS
Mayor Baarsma read a proclamation declaring September 19th, 2008, POW/MIA Day in Tacoma.
REGULAR AGENDA
Resolution No. 37584 appointing and reappointing eleven individuals to the Human Rights Commission, Human Services Commission, and Citizens Recognition Committee including several regular Exit133 readers and contributors.
Purchase Resolution No. 37585 awards contracts for temp personnel, News Tribune advertising and public notice publication, firefighting protecting clothing, and ambulance services.
Resolution No. 37586 authorizes the execution of an amendment to the lease agreement with the United States Government, General Services Administration, for the continued lease of 6,014 square feet of office space within the Tacoma Municipal Building North through July 31, 2009. This would be the GSA renting from the City of Tacoma.
FINAL READING OF ORDINANCES
Ordinance No. 27733 amends Chapter 13.06 of the Municipal Code to reclassify three parcels of property, totaling approximately 3.25 acres, located at 2911 South Adams Street, from an “R2-SRD” One-Family Dwelling Special Review District to a “T” Transitional District, for the construction of 20 units of emergency family housing and 16 units of transitional family housing.
Ordinance No. 27744 authorizes the execution of a grant agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration, in the amount of $1,485,000; accepting, depositing in, and appropriating said sum from the Tacoma Rail Mountain Division Capital Projects Fund, for trestle rehabilitation on the Tacoma Rail Mountain Division line between Tacoma and Eatonville.
