Editing Out Marty (for City Council)

So… Marty Campbell wins the City of Destiny Award for his work in downtown Tacoma as a small business owner, former president of the Downtown Merchant Group, and his involvement in New Tacoma.  However, Marty also announced his candidacy for City Council earlier this year.  The result is that he’ll be edited out of the award coverage on TV Tacoma because winning an award provides undue publicity.  And… the city is recommending limits on future award nominees with public office aspirations.

The city’s attempt to enforce rules against candidate publicity will create more buzz than if it had been ignored entirely.
