Roxanne Murphy Enters City Council Race
Now things are getting interesting …
Roxanne Murphy, a dedicated resident of the Eastside and former City of Tacoma employee, has decided to jump into the City Council District 4 race against Marty Campbell.
… Her involvement within the District 4 has encompassed serving as a board member of the Eastside Neighborhood Council; secretary and treasurer of the DomeTop Neighborhood Alliance; and volunteering for the McKinley Hill Business District’s festivals and supporting its merchants.
Roxanne knows Tacoma’s government and this city from inside and out after serving as a Community Relations Specialist for the City of Tacoma …
Game on?

At Marilyn’s kickoff, I heard that Roxanne was saying she was going to run for a Port position. I also thought she was supporting Marty, what happened?

Way to go Roxanne! Let’s get some support going!

ex-squeeze me. Why now? Why split the voters? What about us who like them both. This is not good for tacoma. This is just gonna lock out someone who Should be on the council. Both should be there. They both have a great vision for the growing-up Tacoma. No politician is perfect but these 2 are so much better than the series of untalented and uninspiring crew that’s been there for too long. (uber-corporate yes-men and yes-women …) I just find this development disturbing. I’ll support both, but jeeez.

Choice is good and either one will do a good job for their district and represent the city dutifully.
I however will not be able to vote for this position.

Can someone tell me why she (Roxanne) is no longer a city employee?
M me April 25, 2009
Roxanne is no longer a city employee because she quit to go back to school. She is still in school at Evergreen, I think until the middle of next year.

All of a sudden, Dale Washam is everyone’s “friend” when 2 elections ago the only defining term for the man was “Kook” “nutjob” and “spacecase”. Now he’s suddenly “our friend” Why? Did you actually sit and listen to the man while he conversed with you over burgers and beers or because the TNT says he’s our friend. Suggest you develope friends the old fashioned way. Dale isn’t doing anything that he wasn’t trying to do 6 years ago.
As for Ms. Murphy, another newbie for the fodder of old Tacoma Politics.Tell us what your plans are and how you’re gonna change the world. RRRROOOOOXXXXAANNNE!! You don’t have to wear that dress tonight

Sounds like this is an opening for Roxanne to maybe put in her two cents and answer some of the questions people asked here. Maybe an interview is in order…I mean, sinse it was already brought up in this forum, it seems only logical to follow through.

And for the record, I don’t have to put on the red light :).
