Sneak Peek: City Business This Week
It’s looking like a kind of slow week as far as City Council agendas go…
Gang Assessment Project Report
The main item on this week’s study session is a report on the findings of the 2011 Tacoma Gang Assessment, the results of which will help guide the Tacoma Gang Project. The study, which began last summer, is a part of the City’s approach to understanding and attempting to deter gang activity.
Pay Reductions for Non-Represented City Employees
The only ordinance currently listed on the City Council meeting agenda for this week is a first reading of an ordinance to allow for a temporary pay reduction for non-represented General Government employees. Sounds like another drop in the bucket as we move towards closing the budget gap.
Government Leadership Institute This Week
Urban governance and citizen participation are the focus of this week’s Government Leadership Institute. Today’s session is the fourth out of five weeks of GLI sessions hosted by the City of Tacoma’s Neighborhood Council Office, along with UWT’s Urban Studies Program. The sessions are open and free to the public, with no registration required. The final session will take place next week, March 5, and will focus on “Urban Power and Decision-Making.” GLI sessions are Mondays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the UWT campus, Keystone Building Auditorium.
