Stadium Way Project Update
The latest on the Stadium Way improvements is that the Stadium High School end is on time, while the Commerce section is experiencing slight delays.
The Commerce Street portion of the project has encountered unforeseen conditions below the roadway, causing delays. The reopening of Commerce to two-way traffic will likely be delayed until early October, rather than mid-September as originally planned.
The Stadium portion of the project is on track to reopen to traffic in early September.
This is Phase 1 of the project, with Phase 2 being repairs to the main stretch of Stadium Way. In an attempt to keep the project on schedule, the City may begin Phase 2 work while the Commerce portion is still wrapping up. If that happens, we may see the work begin in September with partial closures of Stadium Way. Plans are still for a full closure of that street when Phase 2 gets into full swing.
The City and the contractor, Ceccanti, Inc, will be hosting an open house Wednesday to discuss the project with the public.

Could you expand on the “unforseen conditions below the roadway?” My first thought is Shanghai tunnels but that’s probably wishful thinking! I recall reading that some of stadium way is on old decaying pilings and fill which could possibly extend down to commerce.
