Tacoma City Council District 3 Race Gets Going

The race for Tacoma's District 3 City Council seat is getting pretty crowded. Current District 3 Councilmember Lauren Walker reaches the end of her term this year, and campaigns for her would-be replacements seem to be kicking off left and right.

This week we received announcements from "Hilltop community activist" Whitney Brady and "US Army veteran and neighborhood leader" Valentine Smith. That's in addition to the announcements we've already seen from "community leader and transit champion" Justin Leighton, "teacher, father, and community leader" Thomas McCarthy, and "community organizer, family man, and advocate for Tacoma" Keith Blocker.

Find more about the candidates:

Other names have already come and gone. Korbett Mosesly's campaign page now points to his wife's school board campaign. Robert Hill, while listed with the PDC in this race, does not appear to have a current campaign page at this time.

This could get interesting... Anyone else want to throw their hat in the ring?

the candidates so far are interesting, although there is one that I know for sure I will not vote for.

If Robert Hill runs he will certainly get my vote. Perhaps RRAnderson at feedtacome could make up some new campaign posters too like he did last time. Those were awesome.

Whitney Brady's website is now up and can be found at http://whitneybradycampaign.com He is the only candidate who has grown up his whole life on the HillTop. Its truly his community and he cares deeply for it and the unique issues it continues to face. Other candidates are busy racking up endorsements from the political elite of Tacoma. Whitney will continue to seek endorsements from his neighbors, community leaders, long time small business owners, social justice activists etc. He needs your help to get his candidacy out there. Please go to the website and contact the campaign if you want to endorse his candidacy or volunteer your time or donate a few bucks.
