Tacoma City Council Meeting - April 28th, 2009

The length of my notes from last night’s city council meeting would imply that there was a lot going on that you would care about. Now, as I peruse them this morning … we’ll cut it down to a few items:

RESOLUTIONS

Resolution No. 37784 authorizes the submittal of an application to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for a $3,500,000 Community Development Block Grant Section 108 Guarantee loan to assist with the development of Phase I of the Harold E. LeMay Museum. (Previously)

Resolution No. 37785 authorizes the execution of Supplement No. 7 to the agreement with David Evans and Associates, Inc., in the amount of $75,000, for a cumulative total of $292,404, for design and on-call engineering services for the East 34th Street Bridge rehabilitation project through December 31, 2010.

Resolution No. 37786 and No. 37787 authorizes the execution of a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Tacoma Police Management Association and the Professional Public Safety Managers Association for a 6.2 percent wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2009.

In closing comments, Mike Lonergan acknowledged TNT reporter Jason Hagey for his fair and honest reporting on city hall. Hagey is leaving the paper as of Friday to join the Association of Washington Businesses.

That’s enough for today.

I keep meaning to attend a city council meeting. Then, I keep reading these and feeling happy I missed it. Thanks for taking the bullet.

    6.2% raise for Police management?

With the kind of terrible service I saw someone get yesterday from the police, I’d say a 45% decrease across the department is more appropriate.

I’ll explain what I saw on Tuesday if anyone wants to know
