Election nights make for fast council meetings. Here are our notes from last night:
CONSENT AGENDA
PROCLAMATIONS, RECOGNITIONS, PRESENTATIONS, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Strickland declared November 11 as African-American Veterans Day in the city of Tacoma, and encouraged all citizens to ecognize the valor and sacrifice of these veterans.
On November 15 at 5:30, legislators (including Jeanie Darneille and Debbie Regala), county and aid groups will hold a children’s forum at Jason Lee middle school in Tacoma to listen to families speak about how the recession is affecting their lives. The mayor and City Council of Tacoma encourage legislators and community leaders to attend the children’s forum to gain insight on the budgets affecting our children and members of our communities.

APPOINTMENTS
Resolution No. 38361 Appoints and reappoints individuals to serve on the Tacoma Arts Commission, Citizen Review Panel, and Board of Ethics.
Appoints Dawn Quinn, and reappoints Jan Brazzell to the Tacoma Arts Commission; appoints Michael West to the Citizen Review Panel; and appoints Justin Camarata to the Board of Ethics.
FIRST READING OF ORDINANCES
Ordinance No. 28028 Amending Chapter 1.44 of the Municipal Code, relating to City Council election districts, to amend the councilmanic district boundaries.
COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Remember that county and city offices will close on Friday for Veterans Day. Garbage and recycling will still be picked up.
