Watch It Live: District 2 Candidate Interviews

There are seven candidates competing to take the District 2 City Council seat recently vacated by Jake Fey. All seven will have the chance to be interviewed by the City Council at this week’s study session, at noon on Tuesday, January 15. You will have the chance to watch live on TV Tacoma. Some of the names may be familiar, some may not. To keep them all straight, and to keep track of your personal picks, RR Anderson has a helpful scorecard so you can play along at home.

You may want to print it out and play along at home. We can only assume that this is how the City Council will be keeping track of their own picks.

According to the Daily Index, at tomorrow’s study session each of the seven will have three minutes to explain why they want the job, why they would be better than the other six candidates, and what they believe the City’s priorities should be. Then they will answer questions from the Council. Following the interviews, the Council will go into an executive session to discuss the applicants. At tomorrow’s City Council meeting, a motion will be made to appoint one of the candidates.

We don’t know exactly what questions will get asked, but we’ve got some ideas for subject areas.

What questions would you ask?

And this big, shiny white guy is a lobbyist. I would have preferred that someone with skin in the game was appointed. (cue voice of Foghorn Leghorn) ‘Don’t tell me what ya know, boy. Tell me who ya know!” Navy reserve as well which might mean that Sperry Dock will stay a mess.
